Masaryk University

Masaryk University, based in Brno, is the Czech Republic's second-largest university. It has nine faculties and offers accredited study programs. Notably, it operates a polar station in Antarctica.

<h4><strong>Basic Information</strong></h4>
<p>Palacký University Olomouc (UP) is an internationally respected and scientifically and academically highly productive university in Central Europe. Founded 22 December 1573, it is the second-oldest university in the Czech Republic and the oldest one in Moravia. For <a href="https://450.upol.cz/en/"><strong>450 years</strong></a> it has contributed to the intellectual wealth of society and to its scientific, cultural, and social development.</p>

Pittcon (The Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy) is a dynamic, transnational conference and exposition on laboratory science, a venue for presenting the latest advances in analytical chemistry.

MSACL: The Association for Mass Spectrometry & Advances in the Clinical Lab

<h3><strong>MSACL - The Association for Mass Spectrometry &amp; Advances in the Clinical Lab</strong></h3>
<p>MSACL is committed to the advancement of mass spectrometry and other advanced technologies, including data science, in the clinical laboratory through education and training of practitioners, physicians, laboratory scientists, industrial scientists, and health care professionals involved in patient care and management. MSACL supports the development of new technologies to be used in laboratory medicine; including diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of clinical disorders.</p>
<p>MSACL was incorporated in May 2009 as non-profit and is tax exempt under 501(c)(3). The association&#39;s mission is to further the accumulation and sharing of expertise in the area of mass spectrometry and advanced technologies for use in the clinical laboratory with the goal of improving patient care. As part of this mission <strong>the association hosts MSACL conferences in the US and Europe</strong>, as well as supporting educational activities in Asia. MSACL also supports and manages the society&#39;s Journal of Mass Spectrometry &amp; Advances in the Clinical Lab.</p>
<h4><strong>Objectives &amp; Target Audience</strong></h4>
<p>The objective of MSACL is to support the enhancement of patient care using technology &amp; data science. The target audience includes pathologists, clinical laboratory directors, clinical scientists, and researchers, as well as laboratory diagnostic providers. This programs provided by MSACL are beneficial to healthcare administrators, laboratory quality control and standards scientists, as well as those responsible for implementation of clinical analyses for emergency response due to terrorism or accident.</p>

Massachusetts Institute of Technology

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is a private research university devoted to the advancement of knowledge and education of students in areas that contribute to or prosper in an environment of science and technology.

<h4><strong>A Rich History of Innovation</strong></h4><p>Organomation was founded in <strong>1959</strong> by the late <strong>Dr. Neal McNiven</strong>, who foresaw the need for sample preparation instruments required for chromatography. He developed the first multiple sample, high-speed nitrogen evaporator, the forerunner of many similar devices.</p><p>Originally named the <strong>Meyer N-EVAP Analytical Evaporator</strong>, it was popular from the very beginning and found acceptance in a variety of analytical laboratories. It held up to twelve test tubes of various diameters simultaneously with a unique front-loading feature. In the beginning the evaporator was sold directly from a small manufacturing area in Shrewsbury and later Worcester, Massachusetts.</p><p>In <strong>1970</strong> a second model was introduced, the <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.organomation.com/products/nitrogen-evaporators/n-evap/24-position?hsLang=en"><strong>twenty-four position N-EVAP</strong></a>. With updates in design, features and materials it is still one of the most popular products offered. Frequently, we see examples of both of these early models still in use today.</p><p>As the demand increased, it necessitated a larger facility. In 1980, Organomation constructed its current headquarters and manufacturing plant in Berlin, Massachusetts. The emphasis at the time was on research and development to expand the product line. The <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.organomation.com/products/nitrogen-evaporators/multivap?hsLang=en"><strong>MULTIVAP</strong></a> batch nitrogen evaporators and <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.organomation.com/products/solvent-evaporators?hsLang=en"><strong>S-EVAP</strong></a> boiling solvent evaporators were introduced during this time.</p><h4><strong>The Storied History Continues Today&nbsp;</strong></h4><p>The <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.organomation.com/products/nitrogen-evaporators/microvap?hsLang=en"><strong>MICROVAP</strong></a> product line was introduced in 2000 and it was originally designed for microplates. In 2004 Organomation released the MICROVAP with an option for test tubes.</p><p>Organomation introduced the <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.organomation.com/products/nitrogen-generators/nitro-gen?hsLang=en"><strong>NITRO-GEN</strong></a> nitrogen generator in 2011 and it was redesigned in 2019 to be a portable, lightweight and low-cost option to pair with laboratory evaporators. It converts compressed air to a stream of 95-99% pure nitrogen gas.</p><p>Evaporation was not the only need in sample preparation. Feedback from laboratory researchers indicated strong demand for extracting an increasing number of samples. The <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.organomation.com/products/solvent-extractors?hsLang=en"><strong>ROT-X-TRACTs</strong></a> for solid and liquid samples were developed to meet this demand. We now offer over 20 different bench-top instruments for both evaporation and extraction.</p><p>Associated glassware and accessories fill out our complete solutions. The newest instruments incorporate automation to make sample processing faster and easier.</p><p>Our sales network of representatives and distributors in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia gives Organomation a worldwide presence. <p><strong>The Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences (IOCB Prague) is a leading scientific institution in the Czech Republic, recognized internationally. Its primary mission is basic research in the fields of chemical biology and medicinal chemistry, organic and material oriented chemistry, chemistry of natural compounds, biochemistry and molecular biology, physical chemistry, theoretical chemistry, and analytical chemistry.</strong> </p>
<p>Today, over 900 employees including 220 PhD students in 49 research and service groups are involved in a broad spectrum of disciplines, which results in more than 250 publications per year, including papers in the most cited prestigious journals such as Nature or Science.</p>

<p><strong>Successful basic research and modern structure</strong></p>
<p>The quality of IOCB science is regularly and rigorously assessed by an international advisory board comprised of respected authorities from research institutes and universities around the world. IOCB has pioneered a progressive system of junior groups with talented scientists from different countries hired in an open international competition, during which they demonstrate their unique expertise and submit scientific proposals. Every five years, all research groups undergo a complex evaluation that strictly adheres to transparent rules based on scientific merit.</p>
<p><strong>Medicinal chemistry and drug development</strong></p>
<p>IOCB has always been active and successful in applied research and practical applications, particularly in medicinal chemistry. The tradition started in 1969 with an ointment called Dermazulen, which was followed by the development of several human peptide hormones and their analogues (lysin-vasopressin, oxytocin).</p>
<p>From a global perspective, the most significant contributions were acyclic nucleotide phosphonate antivirals (especially tenofovir as a component of Truvada, Atripla, and other anti-HIV and anti-HBV drugs) discovered by Prof. Antonín Holý at IOCB and later developed and marketed by Gilead Sciences, Inc.</p>
<p>Besides this well-known antiviral drug story, several other nucleoside compounds developed at IOCB became approved drugs. These include Decitabine, which is used in the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia, Azacytidine, which targets myelodysplastic syndrome (both discovered by Holý’s peer Dr. Alois Pískala), and 9-(2,3-dihydroxypropyl)adenine (DHPA), an acyclic nucleoside analogue discovered by Holý and used clinically in anti-herpes ointments.</p>

<p>The unique collaboration between IOCB Prague and Gilead Sciences, Inc. dates back to the 1990s. A partnership program called Gilead Sciences Research Centre at IOCB Prague was established in 2006 for an initial period of five years with an annual donation of $1.1 million to expand IOCB efforts in the field of human disease research. The program was renewed in 2011 and again in 2016 with increased annual funding of $1.35 million.</p>

This individual will be responsible for following all safety and quality guidelines while maintaining a satisfactory production level.&nbsp; The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.</p><h4><strong>About you:</strong></h4><ul><li>Ensure that all tasks are performed within time restraints and according to relevant quality and safety policies and procedures.</li><li>Use results from test method(s) in calculations to further characterize the data (i.e. Calculated Cetane Index, Viscosity Index, etc.).</li><li>Prepare and/or aliquot samples as part of a sample preparation step for all required tests. When applicable load samples on automated instrumentation that has been validated following method quality requirements.</li><li>Perform routine daily and/or weekly verification(s) and/or calibration(s) on equipment and instrumentation following method quality requirements. Some methods will require a minimum Level 3 or 4 based on complexity and quality risk level.</li><li>Perform analysis on samples through direct testing (i.e. wet chemistry). The minimum level required to perform some methods will vary depending on complexity of the method, safety risk level, and quality risk level.</li><li>Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and/or instrumentation as required by the method. The minimum level required to perform preventative maintenance on some equipment and/or instrumentation will vary depending on the complexity of the task, safety risk level and quality risk level.</li><li>Perform calculations as required when conducting analytical preparations.</li><li>Perform sample preparation for multiple testing requirements.</li><li>Perform housekeeping duties as required. This includes assisting with storage and disposal of client samples.</li><li>Monitor inventory levels for supplies and reagents required for test methods.</li><li>Prepare and maintain standards and reagents.
