<p><strong>Symposium &quot;Advances in Chromatography and Electrophoresis &amp; Chiranal 2022&quot; belongs to the periodical meetings of specialists working in the field of separation methods.</strong></p>
<p>The biennial conference is organized by Department of Analytical Chemistry, Faculty of Science, <a href="https://lcms.cz/companies/17"><strong>Palacky University</strong></a> in cooperation with Regional Centre of Advanced Technologies and Materials, Czech Chemical Society and <a href="https://lcms.cz/companies/21"><strong>Czech Society for Mass Spectrometry</strong></a>. It is organized as a meeting of the scientists from the universities, academic institutes and experts from the routine analytical laboratories.</p>
<p>The scientific program will deal with all areas of separation science <strong>from fundamental to applied reseach</strong> in chemistry, physics, biology, medicine, forensic science and related disciplines. Official languages of the conference are <strong>English</strong>, <strong>Czech</strong> and <strong>Slovak</strong>.</p>

<p>In 1968, a manned space capsule circled the moon for the first time, Germany introduced value added tax, and young people all over the world revolted against the prevailing circumstances. The analytics sector was also on the verge of a new era: in April of 1968, the analytica celebrated its premiere in Munich, back then it was still called “ANALYTICA—International Trade Exhibition for biochemical analyses”.</p>
<p>Analytica has been supporting the development of chemical analytics and bioanalytics for 50 years. And more: It stimulates the transfer of technology and expertise, as it brings together equipment manufacturers and laboratory analysts, scientists and users. Analytica has thus been driving the progress of analytics for half a century by now.</p>
<p>One look back shows how fundamentally the industry has changed since 1968: When the first analytica took place, many laboratory devices still had analogue displays. There were no computers for automatic data collection, no high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and no coupling of gas chromatographs with mass spectrometers yet. Bioanalysts were not able to sequence genes yet. But many ideas were buzzing around. Undoubtedly, the industry needed a meeting place to exchange, to drive new developments, and to keep abreast of the latest developments. Thus, the very premiere of analytica in April 1968 was already a complete success.</p>
<h4><strong>The milestones of analytica’s history</strong></h4>
<ul>
<li><strong>1968:</strong> The analytica celebrates its premiere with 90 exhibitors on a gross area of 5,000 square metres and 4,000 visitors from 17 countries. The accompanying conference “Biochemical Analysis” welcomes more than 800 industry visitors.</li>
<li><strong>1972:</strong> Already at the third analytica, all figures of the first event have more than doubled: more than 9,400 visitors flock the analytica in Munich on a gross area of 9,000 square metres.</li>
<li><strong>1976:</strong> The analytica has meanwhile established itself as the lead international trade fair. 13,308 visitors from 21 countries can learn all about the industry innovations on nearly 21,000 square metres of exhibition space.</li>
<li><strong>1992:</strong> A premiere at the analytica Munich: the first special show on an area of 182 square metres.</li>
<li><strong>1998:</strong> The analytica relocates to the new exhibition grounds in München-Riem.</li>
<li><strong>2002:</strong> For the first time, more than 1,000 exhibitors attend the exhibition.<br/>With the analytica China the trade fair takes the first step onto one of the most important analytical markets of the world.</li>
<li><strong>2003:</strong> The industry ventures into another important growth market with the analytica Anacon India.</li>
<li><strong>2009:</strong> analytica Munich and IMAG GmbH host the first analytica Vietnam in Hanoi.2012<br/>Live presentations in fully equipped Live Labs are held for the first time and become an outstanding success at the analytica in Munich.</li>
<li><strong>2014:</strong> The international exhibition network of the analytica continues to grow: the analytica Anacon India takes over the India Lab Expo.</li>
<li><strong>2016:</strong> The leading international trade fair for laboratory technology, analytics and biotechnology breaks all records: 1,244 exhibitors, 37 percent of which from abroad, present their innovations and future trends on the exhibition grounds in Munich.</li>
<li><strong>2017:</strong> The analytica cluster continues its path of expansion: this time with the Lab Africa, which will take place for the first time under the auspices of the analytica cluster in 2019.</li>
<li><strong>2018:</strong> The analytica 2018 paves the way for digitization in the laboratory industry: the new Forum Digital Transformation offers panel discussions, live demonstrations and sessions to become fit for the smart lab.</li>

ASMS: The American Society for Mass Spectrometry

<h3><strong>What is ASMS and How does it function</strong></h3>
<p><a href="https://www.asms.org/"><strong>The American Society for Mass Spectrometry</strong> (<strong>ASMS</strong>)</a> was formed in 1969 to promote and disseminate knowledge of mass spectrometry and allied topics. Membership includes over 8,500 scientists involved in research and development. Members come from academic, industrial and governmental laboratories. Their interests include advancement of techniques and instrumentation in mass spectrometry, as well as fundamental research in chemistry, geology, forensics, biological sciences and physics.</p>
<p>ASMS is a 501 c 3 non-profit corporation governed by an elected Board of Directors.</p>

<h3><strong>About JASMS</strong></h3>
<p><a href="https://pubs.acs.org/journal/jamsef"><strong>Journal of the American Society for Mass Spectrometry (JASMS)</strong></a> is a monthly, peer-reviewed journal that covers all aspects of mass spectrometry, including fields of scientific inquiry in which mass spectrometry can play a role.</p>
<p>JASMS was launched in 1990 as a bi-monthly publication with Michael L. Gross as Editor in Chief.  In 1993, the publication frequency was increased to monthly.   </p>
<p>Comprehensive in scope, the journal publishes papers on both fundamentals and applications of mass spectrometry. Fundamental subjects include instrumentation principles, design, and demonstration, structures and chemical properties of gas-phase ions, studies of thermodynamic properties, ion spectroscopy, chemical kinetics, mechanisms of ionization, theories of ion fragmentation, cluster ions, and potential energy surfaces.</p>
<p>Papers that report on an application should have as a principal focus the use of mass spectrometry to solve a qualitative or quantitative problem. Application subjects include, but are not limited to, structural elucidation, biopolymer sequencing, development or validation of new methodology, proteomics and other &#39;omics related research, and environmental and forensic measurements. Papers describing computer applications will be considered.</p>
<p>In addition to full papers, the journal offers Communications, Application Notes, and Accounts and Perspectives. </p>
<p>ASMS members receive subscription and access to JASMS as a benefit of membership.</p>

BIOCEV: Biotechnology and Biomedicine Centre of the Academy of Sciences and Charles University in Vestec

<h3><strong>Excellent Science in Favour of Modern Society</strong></h3>
<p>BIOCEV is a joint project of six institutes of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (Institute of Molecular Genetics, Institute of Biotechnology, Institute of Microbiology, Institute of Physiology, Institute of Experimental Medicine, and Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry) and two faculties of Charles University in Prague (Faculty of Science and 1st Faculty of Medicine). The project’s goal is to establish European Centre of Excellence in biomedicine and biotechnology.</p>
<p>In January 2016, the Institute of Biotechnology CAS (IBT) moved to a BIOCEV centre and is involved in two of the five research programmes. IBT wants to take full advantage of this chance to produce cutting-edge scientific results that will be transferred into clinical practice.</p>

<p>The idea to establish the new research centre BIOCEV arose in early 2006. At that time the Czech Republic was missing a modern research centre specialized in two prospective domains – biotechnology and biomedicine. As a solution to this situation, the Project BIOCEV came into existence with the planned financial support from the European Structural Funds, namely the Operational programme Research and Development for Innovations.</p>

<p><strong>The Institute for Nanomaterials, Advanced Technologies and Innovations of the Technical University of Liberec, also known as CXI TUL, was founded in 2009. Our mission is to support TUL's long-term vision of collaboration with industry and innovation. Our experts use state-of-the-art equipment and cutting-edge technology to deliver science at the highest level. We focus on three main research areas: nanomaterials in life sciences, competitive engineering and systems integration.</strong></p><p>CXI TUL prides itself on its applied research, which often takes place in close <strong>collaboration with industrial partners</strong>. These collaborations <strong>account for more than 20% of our annual turnover</strong>. Our team includes more than <strong>160 specialists</strong> working on approximately <strong>70 scientific projects</strong>, with nearly one-sixth of our staff coming from all over the world.</p><p>We have been successful in winning major <strong>European grants</strong> such as <strong>Horizon Europe</strong>, <strong>Digital Europe</strong>, <strong>MSCA</strong>, <strong>Life+</strong> and <strong>Twinning</strong>. We publish <strong>more than 100</strong> impactful scientific <strong>publications per year</strong>. In our existence, we can boast, for example, <strong>66 patents</strong> or <strong>59 proven technologies</strong>.</p><p>We also focus on creating a pleasant and inspiring working environment. <strong>In 2020, we received the HR Excellence in Research award</strong>, which confirms our care for our employees and our compliance with European standards in this area. A key focus is on the <strong>synthesis, testing and validation of nanomaterials</strong> in practical applications, particularly in water treatment and remediation. We offer <strong>specialised services in microbial safety, nanomaterial development for medicine and cosmetics, and bioremediation</strong>, including analysis of the impact of remediation interventions on microbial communities. We provide a<strong>ccredited sampling and analysis of</strong> drinking and bathing <strong>water</strong>, chemical and microbiological testing, laboratory and semi-operational testing of chemical oxidation methods, including <strong>GC/MS</strong> and <strong>LC/MS</strong>. We deal with the <strong>synthesis and functionalization of organic and inorganic compounds</strong>, prepare nanoparticles and offer <strong>chemistry consultation</strong>. We are involved in advanced water treatment technologies, membrane bioreactors, biomass carriers, groundwater remediation and nanomaterials in biotechnology, including nanofiber filters for water and air.</li><li><strong>The second research thrust, Competitive Engineering</strong>, focuses on <strong>R&amp;D for the manufacturing and automotive industries</strong> with high application potential. We support industrial activities not only in adjacent regions, focusing on new technologies and processes to increase innovation in industrial production.</li><li><strong>The third research area, System Integration</strong>, focuses on the development of <strong>modern software solutions</strong>, system solutions for <strong>data processing and integration between systems</strong>. <p><strong>Founded in 2011 on the basis of six major Brno universities and research institutions. CEITEC&#39;s main priorities are to maintain a motivating and dynamic international scientific environment, to provide a modern research infrastructure that meets the highest standards, and a policy of open communication and equal opportunities not only now but also in the future.</strong></p>
<h3><strong>Central European Institute of Technology – Masaryk University (CEITEC MU)</strong></h3>
<p> is an independent university institute, which was established at Masaryk University as part of the CEITEC - CEO Center of Excellence. CEITEC MU forms a key part of the state-of-the-art edge research infrastructure, that was built in 2014 at the University Campus in Brno-Bohunice and provides top equipment and optimal conditions for basic and applied research, especially in the field of life sciences. The head of CEITEC MU is Pavel Plevka, Ph.D.</p>
<p>The main priorities of CEITEC are the international dimension of research cooperation and its interdisciplinary character. The connecting element between scientific disciplines is mainly the shared laboratories, which create optimal conditions for solving multidisciplinary questions in the fields of structural biology, genomics and proteomics, molecular medicine, neuroscience, nanotechnology and microtechnology. </p>
<h3><strong>CEITEC Brno University of Technology</strong></h3>
<p>It is part of the CEITEC Centre of Scientific Excellence. Since 2011, it has been a key part of a top research infrastructure with unique equipment and conditions for basic and applied research in the field of advanced nanotechnologies and advanced materials and cybernetics.</p>
<p>There are a total of three areas of research at CEITEC BUT. Our main priorities include not only international research cooperation, but also its interdisciplinary nature. CEITEC Nano shared laboratories operate in an open access mode and provide ideal conditions for solving multidisciplinary issues, as their equipment can also be used by external users, institutions or industry partners. The head of CEITEC BUT is prof. Radimír Vrba.</p>
<p>The 18 research groups currently involved deal with ceramic, advanced polymer, bioelectric, low-dimensional or epitaxial materials, as well as biomaterials. Within the development of new materials, we also have research groups interested in materials characterization and advanced instrumentation per se, and even the development of advanced coatings directly for industry. Researchers at CEITEC BUT are working on the preparation and characterization of nanostructures, molecular nanostructures, nanomagnetism and spintronics or magneto-optical ThZ spectroscopy. They also excel in research on future energies, plasma technologies or experimental biophotonics. Our research focus is also extended to include developments in cybernetics and robotics. </p>
<h3><strong>Central European Institute of Technology - Mendel University in Brno (CEITEC MENDELU)</strong></h3>
<p>is an independent institute at Mendel University which was established within the framework of the CEITEC - Central European Institute of Technology. CEITEC includes the leading Brno universities and two research institutes which joined forces in order to establish a centre of scientific excellence. Director of the CEITEC MENDELU is Mgr.Jan Zouhar, PhD.</p>
<p>Mendel University in Brno is the oldest independent university of agriculture and forestry in the Czech lands. It was established in 1919 as the University of Agriculture in Brno and existed under this name until 1994. Its establishment was the culmination of a long-standing effort to establish an agricultural college in Moravia, which has always been one of the countries with the most advanced agriculture in Central Europe. The head of CEITEC MENDELU is Jan Zouhar, Ph.D.</p>
<h3><strong>Central European Institute of Technology - University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences Brno (CEITEC VETUNI)</strong></h3>
<p>It is an independent higher education institute established at the Veterinary and Pharmaceutical University as part of the scientific centre of excellence CEITEC - Central European Institute of Technology. CEITEC is an inter-university centre in which four major Brno universities and two research institutes based in Brno cooperate. The Director of CEITEC, VETUNI Brno is Prof. MVDr. Jiří Smola, CSc.</p>
<p>The University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences Brno was founded as the College of Veterinary Medicine in December 1918, at that time as the first new university of the Czechoslovak state. In its conception and organisation of teaching, it followed the College of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna. The school consists of three faculties, which in total comprise 28 institutes and 6 clinics.</p>
<h3><strong>Central European Institute of Technology - Institute of Physics of Materials of the Czech Academy of Sciences (CEITEC IPM)</strong></h3>
<p>It is an independent department established at the Institute of Physics of Materials of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic as a part of the scientific centre of excellence CEITEC - Central European Institute of Technology. CEITEC is an inter-university centre in which four major Brno universities and two research institutes based in Brno cooperate. The head of the CEITEC Institute of the Faculty of Science is doc. Ing. Luboš Náhlík, Ph.D.</p>
<p>The activities of CEITEC IPM are focused on the interdisciplinary field of materials science. The focus of its activity lies mainly in basic research of metallic materials. The institute focuses on the physical nature of processes occurring in metallic materials during creep, fatigue and the interaction of creep with fatigue and other types of mechanical loading and on research of the structure and selected physical properties of materials. In both these research areas, the aim is to clarify the relationship between the behaviour and properties of materials and their structural and microstructural characteristics.</p>
<p><strong>Central European Institute of Technology - Veterinary Research Institute (CEITEC VRI)</strong></p>
<p>is an independent department established at the Research Institute of Veterinary Medicine as part of the CEITEC - Central European Institute of Technology scientific centre of excellence. CEITEC is an inter-university centre in which four major Brno universities and two research institutes based in Brno cooperate. The head of CEITEC VRI is MVDr. Martin Anger, Ph.D.</p>
<p>The Research Institute of Veterinary Medicine was founded in 1955 by decision of the Minister of Agriculture as an institute of the then Czechoslovak Academy of Agricultural Sciences. It is the only professional research institute in the Czech Republic focused on research in the field of veterinary medicine with a significant share of applied research. However, its focus also covers a wide area of preclinical veterinary medicine with intersection into human medicine, ecology and other fields.</p>
