There are a variety of departments to explore, including Spectroscopy, Fire Assay, and Digestion.</p><h4><strong>Specific Responsibilities</strong></h4><ul><li>Operate and perform maintenance on AAS, ICP-AES and/or ICP-MS instruments;</li><li>Identify &amp; correct QC related problems by ensuring the quality of the analytical data meets ALS standards;</li><li>Evaluate data using instrument software and GEMS;</li><li>Use Microsoft Word &amp; Excel to create written reports;</li><li>Prepare sample dilutions, instrument operating solutions and calibration standards;</li><li>Test and evaluate calibration standards;</li><li>Ensure all prepared and available samples are accounted for in the lab;</li><li>Prioritize workloads according to daily stats and turnaround commitments;</li><li>Follow all SOPs and quality work instructions;</li><li>Maintain and organize inventory of calibration standards, production logs and equipment records;</li><li>Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following all safety requirements within the Safety Manual and communicate all safety concerns to the Supervisor or Manager.</li><li>Act as backup to the shift lead hand;</li><li>Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;</li><li>Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;</li><li>Other tasks as assigned by Supervisor or Manager.</li><li>Required Knowledge, Skills &amp; Abilities</li><li>Strong analytical and mechanical skills;</li><li>Quality focused individual;</li><li>Organized, highly motivated, detail oriented and able to work independently or as part of a team;</li><li>Ability to effectively handle a high volume of work and time critical issues;</li><li>Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal);</li><li>Strong MS Office skills, specifically MS Word, Excel and Outlook.</li></ul><h4><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></h4><ul><li>Recognized Diploma or Degree in Science required, with a concentration in Chemistry preferred, or completion of the BC Assayers certification program required;</li><li>Minimum of 1 years of laboratory experience in analytical chemistry, instrumentation or a related field required;</li></ul><h4><strong>Physical Demands</strong></h4><ul><li>Ability to lift filled 20 litre containers (45 lb);</li><li>Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks.</li></ul><h4><strong>Our Benefits Include</strong></h4><ul><li>An estimated hourly pay of $23.45 CAD at the time of posting.
