Ensuring food safety requires accurate detection of toxic elements at very low concentration levels, as mandated by international standards such as AOAC Official Method 2015.01. Food matrices pose significant analytical challenges because of their complex compositions, high dissolved solids after digestion, and spectral interferences, including polyatomic and doubly charged rare-earth element species. Simultaneously, food testing laboratories need high sample throughput and minimal operator intervention. This study presents an automated ICP-MS/MS workflow for multi-element analysis of various food matrices using discrete sampling and intelligent autodilution.

Presenter: Jeff Sayen (ICP-MS Application Scientist, Agilent Technologies)
