Presenter: Bert Woods (Application Scientist, Agilent Technologies, Inc.)

Joined the Agilent ICP-MS team in 2004, with previous employment in the semiconductor industry with Dominion Semiconductor (IBM/Toshiba) and Micron. Bert is a 1997 Chemistry graduate of Radford University in Virginia and an avid Washington DC Sports fan.

Presenter: Ana Garcia-Gonzalez (Atomic Spectroscopy Applications Scientist, Agilent Technologies, Inc.)

Ana Garcia is the Atomic Spectroscopy Application Scientist at Agilent Technologies, Inc. Ana has a broad background in atomic spectroscopy technologies, including international experience developing and validating analytical spectroscopy methods for the geochemical industry. She has also published in the fields of molecular spectroscopy and chemometrics. Ana holds a MSc in plant Biotechnology at CINVESTAV, México, and a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology Engineering.

Presenter: Abe Gutierrez (ICP-MS Product Specialist, Agilent Technologies, Inc.)

Abe Gutierrez was born and raised in beautiful Arecibo, Puerto Rico. He attended the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez Campus. His first experience with ICP-MS came while he was an Analytical Chemist at Ashland Chemicals in Dallas, TX. In Ashland Chemicals, Abe’s team developed new methodology that included the use of ETV-ICP-MS, Membrane Desolvation and Ultrasonic Nebulizers for semiconductor applications. His passion for sample introduction systems helped him moved to a job as a Research Chemist with Cetac Technologies in Omaha Nebraska. At Cetac he helped with the development of the sample introduction systems for the HP/Agilent ICP-MS. While at Cetac, Abe also performed demos and ran samples for Agilent; a couple of years later he joined the HP/Agilent team in the US as an Applications specialist.

Abe has changed roles from applications to sales support but he remains part of Agilent’s Field Advisory Team working with R&D, applications chemists and the manufacturing site to help with the introduction and implementation of new and revolutionary technology. Abe is now the ICP-MS Product Specialist for the eastern part of the United States and he lives in South Florida with his wife and 4 kids.

Presenter: Chris Conklin (Atomic Spectroscopy Product Specialist, Agilent Technologies, Inc.)

With a degree from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, Chris worked in, and lead, a quality control lab testing fine chemicals ranging from reagent grade to high purity. Over the course of 12 years in that role, Chris has run a variety of atomic elemental instruments and techniques including AA, ICP-OES, and ICP-MS. As a result, he has seen most of the periodic table in its elemental form and overcome the associated interferences. In 2018, Chris brought that knowledge and experience to his current role with Agilent as the Product Specialist for Atomic Spectroscopy supporting AA, MP-AES, and ICP-OES for the Eastern US.
