Thermo Fisher Scientific: Realizing productivity improvements in elemental analysis using ICP-OES and ICP-MS
Thermo Fisher Scientific: Realizing productivity improvements in elemental analysis using ICP-OES and ICP-MS

Elemental analysis delivers valuable information about the concentration of potentially toxic metals and major components across a wide range of sample types. Whilst ICP-OES remains the technique of choice for more complex sample types and applications requiring ppm level detection limits, such as fertilizers, lubricants or battery materials, ICP-MS is the solution for applications requiring lowest limits of detecion, yet still deliver high robustness for handling complex matrices. Today´s analytical testing labs therefore are facing more and highly diverse sample types, combined with more demanding detection limits and increased needs to turn samples over faster as a key challenge.

What you will learn:

  • Get to know the Thermo Scientific product portfolio for elemental analysis
  • Learn how modern automation and spectrometer design can speed up ICP-OES
  • Understand how ICP-MS can handle complex sample types without compromising on robustness
  • Hear how triple quadrupole ICP-MS helps to improve data quality and productivity at the same time

Who should attend:

  • Analytical chemists working with elemental analysis
  • Laboratory managers and supervisors

Research chemists

Presenter: Dr. Daniel Kutscher (Product Marketing Specialist, Thermo Fisher Scientific)

Daniel earned a degree in Chemistry at the University of Mainz, Germany, in 2007. Following that, he joined the Analytical Spectrometry Group at the University of Oviedo, Spain, where he obtained his Ph.D. in 2011. Daniel joined Thermo Fisher Scientific in 2011 as a Product Specialist for ICP-MS focusing on hyphenated techniques, such as IC-ICP-MS, and finding solutions for the high-throughput analysis of challenging sample types. In 2018, he became a Product Marketing Specialist.

Moderator: Matthew Cassap (Product Marketing Manager Trace Elemental Analysis, Thermo Fisher Scientific)

In 2006 Matthew joined Thermo Fisher Scientific as an applications specialist. In this role he became an expert in trace element analysis applications across a broad range of industry segments using a range of liquid/solid sampling accessories and hyphenated techniques. In 2012 Matthew assumed responsibility of the Thermo Scientific ICP-OES product line and was based at the manufacturing facility in Cambridge, UK. From 2014 to 2017 Matthew was based at the Thermo Scientific center of excellence in Bremen, Germany as Product Manager for AA and ICP-OES. In 2018 Matthew relocated back to the UK and is now the TEA Product Marketing Manager.
