Shimadzu: X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy: Powering the Future of Renewable Energy

X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) is a powerful tool used for characterizing materials and analyzing surfaces, playing a significant role in developing materials for the green energy sector.

Join us for an informative session on Shimadzu’s Digital Classrooms to explore how XPS contributes to innovation solutions towards sustainability.

Herein, discover valuable insights that XPS offers into the chemical composition and surface properties of materials used in next-generation solar cell materials and advanced battery components. XPS, a non-destructive technique, offers highly precise and detailed information about the elemental composition and chemical states of these material surfaces.

Our session will also showcase the capabilities of the AXIS Supra+ photoelectron spectrometer. Get to experience first-hand how XPS enhances our understanding of surface chemistry and electronic structure, leading to optimization in material performance, efficiency, and durability.

As we find ourselves in an era of growing environmental concerns, XPS plays a crucial role in the development of sustainable energy technologies. Join us as we explore how XPS enables scientists and engineers to create a cleaner, greener future for the next generations to come.

Learning Objectives:

  • Importance of surface analysis for green energy sector materials

  • Applications of XPS

  • Importance of high sensitivity & high energry resolution XPS

  • Capabilities of AXIS Supra+

Presenter: Dr. Adam Roberts (Marketing Manager, Kratos Analytical Ltd)

Dr. Roberts joined Kratos Analytical as an Applications Specialist in the Surface Analysis business in 1998. With over 25 years of experience in applications of surface analysis for materials characterization Adam has great depth of knowledge of the subject. This scientific experience has been developed in parallel with commercial sales and marketing of the scientific instruments supplied by Kratos Analytical.

Presenter: Dr. Simon Hutton (Sales Manager, Kratos Analytical Ltd)

Dr. Hutton is currently Sales Manager for surface analysis products at Kratos Analytical. He started as an applications specialist and still has a 'hands-on' approach to instrument sales, acquiring applications data when time allows. Simon has many years experience of XPS and surface analysis.

Presenter: Tan Teck Beng (Product Manager (Scientific), Shimadzu (Asia Pacific))

Tan Teck Beng is the Product Manager for Scientific Instrument in Shimadzu Asia Pacific. He has been providing application support for OES, XRF, XRD, EPMA, SPM and ESCA for the past 20 years. He has conducted numerous Application Seminars and Workshops on Materials Characterization/Failure Analysis/Restriction of Hazardous Substances in countries supported by Shimadzu Asia Pacific. The countries where he has conducted include Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, India, Philippines, Myanmar, Vietnam and Singapore.
