XRF Laboratory Technician
The Role
We’re looking for a motivated XRF Laboratory Technician to join our laboratory team. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong attention to detail, with an analytical mindset, and hands-on lab experience who enjoys accurate, practical work in a structured environment.
You’ll support metals and minerals testing using XRF instrumentation, helping deliver reliable, high-quality analytical results. Experience with XRF is desirable, but full training will be provided.

About the Position
- Shift: Rotational shift working 6:00am to 2:00pm and 1:30pm to 9:00pm
- Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
- Contract: Permanent
- Location: Prescot
- Training: Full training provided
The day to day
- Preparing, weighing and logging samples in line with test methods
- Operating and monitoring XRF equipment for metals and minerals analysis
- Recording and reviewing results accurately using LIMS
- Carrying out routine instrument checks, calibration and basic maintenance
- Following quality, safety and laboratory procedures at all times
- Planning and organising workloads to meet turnaround times
The Essentials
- Experience working in a laboratory environment
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach
- Analytical mindset and confidence following technical procedures
- Awareness of laboratory Health & Safety requirements
- Comfortable using IT systems and data recording tools (e.g. LIMS)
- XRF or similar analytical instrumentation experience desirable
- Follow Quality standards ISO 9001:2008 and UKAS 17025
