Thermo Fisher Scientific - Career

As the world leader in serving science, our work is more than something that fills our days – what we do has great purpose. Our industry-leading scale means unparalleled commercial reach, unique customer access and a global footprint. Our broad customer base, from research to clinical to commercial production means you can have a broad and meaningful impact here at Thermo Fisher Scientific. All while working in an environment where you will be supported, valued and rewarded for your performance.

Data Processing and Microscopy Analysis Intern

When you are part of the team at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you’ll do important work. You’ll have the opportunity to grow and learn in a culture that empowers your development. We have built an inclusive, global environment that values the power of diverse talent, backgrounds, and experiences to drive speed, efficiency, innovation, and growth.

The division

The Materials and Structural Analysis Division (MSD) Electron Microscopy (EM) business enables customers to find meaningful answers to questions that accelerate breakthrough discoveries which can ultimately change the world. The MSD EM business designs, manufactures, and supports the broadest range of high-performance microscopy solutions that provide images and answers in the micro-, nano-, and picometer scales.

Join us, and you’ll be part of a global community of innovators and researchers who are shaping the future of science and technology.

The Position

We are looking for a highly motivated and curious intern to join our core electron microscopy application development team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge transmission electron microscopy (TEM) techniques, including 4D Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy (4D-STEM), Lorentz microscopy, Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX), and Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy (EELS).

In this role, you will contribute to the processing and analysis of large-scale microscopy datasets and help advance data reconstruction methods for ptychography, as well as strain, phase, orientation, and magnetic mapping. Working alongside experienced scientists and engineers, you will help develop and refine data workflows and algorithms that enable entirely new ways of visualizing and understanding materials at the nanoscale.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to experience the intersection of modern technology, data science, and fundamental research—while making meaningful contributions to the future of electron microscopy and materials characterization.
