Application Scientist

Join us as a Field Application Scientist in Transmission Electron Microscope and assist us in our mission to become the world leader in serving science. This dynamic position involves providing scientific training, demonstration, guidance, application support/troubleshooting and Technical sales/marketing support.

This is a field-based role, involving extensive travel across Southeast Asia. Occasional support needs to be provided to customers in the other countries in Asia-pacific region. How will you make an impact

We will support the customer in-person at their lab, and by remote support station, phone and email, serving as a trusted advisor. In doing so, we will help to increase customer satisfaction and build loyalty and chip in to the overall success of the business.

  • Deliver on-site and remote scientific application support & training support to our customers on our leading TEM products
  • Perform product demonstrations at customer or NanoPort sites
  • Diagnose & resolve product performance problems and customer queries/complaints
  • Work with sales representatives on sales calls to give technical and applications assistance in response to customer inquiries
  • Assist the regional sales team in the development of accounts by giving technical seminars and presentations that promote the use of our products
  • Maintain up-to-date technical expertise and in-depth knowledge of our product portfolio and scientific developments in TEM and related subjects
  • Build trust with our customers and excel in customer service

How you will get here

Education
  • Masters Degree in materials science, applied physics or similar (PhD preferred).
Experience
  • More than 5 years experience in EM related to Materials Science
  • Experience in presenting technical materials in written and verbal form
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Good knowledge on EM: Diffraction, Imaging and Spectrometry
  • Experience in Thermo Scientific EM, Tecnai/Talos/Titan/Themis/Spectra (TIA, Velox, CEOS, GMS…)
  • Customer-facing experience, with the emotional intelligence to understand customer concerns
  • Able to connect with and support people optimally with varying levels of technical knowledge and expertise
  • Better with some management experience
  • Good digital literacy and have an interest for groundbreaking technology
  • Willingness to travel extensively (up to 60%)
  • Proficient in English
