Application Scientist for SPR
Support and build a strong team of application chemists/specialists for pre-sales and post-sales supports to Bruker’s Life Science Mass Spectrometry business. The position will be required to provide instrument demonstrations & sample analyses for prospective BDAL LSMS customers, and applications & technical support and trainings to other BDAL LSMS customers in China.
Responsibilities
- The candidate will work align with our global Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) team to deliver all the Bruker solution & technology to China customer. Participate in internal and external collaborative meetings.
- Responsible for the application of SPR- based methods in our Application Development Laboratory in Shanghai.
- The candidate must be able to design, analyze and interpret SPR data and perform troubleshooting needed.
- The successful candidate should have a thorough understanding & knowledge of the development of SPR assays.
- Independently conduct demonstration experiments, application training course for SPR instrument at customer sites or Demo Lab. Able to answer questions for customers regarding the instrument operation, data processing and sample preparation.
- Excellent writing skills, and the ability to document and communicate results to a wide array of scientists and management will be critical.
- Plan and execute marketing campaigns, including seminars, workshops, roadshows by giving technical presentations in Chinese (mostly), and sometimes in English.
- Translate marketing material including brochures, application notes and other marketing collateral.
- Communicate regularly with the factory product/marketing managers to develop local China marketing and tactics to align with the global strategy; to generate relevant marketing materials for China market; to organize and conduct internal training to sales team.
- Ability to multitask while working with multiple people in a team - based environment is a requirement.
Qualifications
- 1+ years in-depth hands-on experience with Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR)
- Ph.D. in a scientific field (i.e., Biology, Biotechnology, etc.) with 2+ years laboratory experience.
- Master's degree in a scientific field (i.e., Biology, Biotechnology, etc.) with 5+ years laboratory experience.
- 1-3 years working experience in biotechnology or biopharmaceutical company is preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills that have been demonstrated through presentations/seminars, oversight of projects, implementation of new services, etc.
- Highly motivated, team player, quick learner, self-starter and problem solver.
- Good presentation skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative research environment.
- Demonstrates a high level of initiative and leadership capabilities.
- Effective coaching and training skills for complex and highly technical work
