The Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS) is an international professional society of academic, industry and government researchers as well as developers and providers of laboratory automation technology and tools.

SETAC: The Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry

<h3><strong>Our Story</strong></h3>
<p>SETAC was founded in the late 1970s to be a forum for interdisciplinary communication among environmental scientists – biologists, chemists, toxicologists – as well as managers and engineers and others interested in environmental issues. SETAC was incorporated in Washington, DC, USA, in 1979 and soon grew to be a global entity.</p>
<p>SETAC is concerned about global environmental issues and is committed to <a href="https://www.setac.org/?page=Mission"><strong>Environmental Quality Through Science®</strong></a>. SETAC takes a multidisciplinary, multistakeholder and science-based approach to identifying solutions for environmental challenges. Because of its approach, SETAC’s development and the growth of the environmental movement are closely associated.</p>
<p>SETAC’s growth from SETAC North America has been marked by the establishment of Geographic Units around the world: SETAC Europe in 1989, SETAC Asia-Pacific in 1997, SETAC Latin America in 1999 and SETAC Africa in 2012, as well as regional chapters and branches at the more local level. </p>
<p>A unique strength of SETAC is its commitment to balance the scientific interests of government, academia and business. The society&#39;s <a href="https://www.setac.org/?page=Mission"><strong>by-laws</strong></a> mandate equal representation from these three sectors for officers, World Council, Geographic Unit boards of directors and councils, and committee members and governance of activities. The proportion of members from each of the three sectors has remained nearly equal over the years.</p>

This individual will be responsible for following all safety and quality guidelines while maintaining a satisfactory production level.&nbsp; The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.</p><h4><strong>About you:</strong></h4><ul><li>Ensure that all tasks are performed within time restraints and according to relevant quality and safety policies and procedures.</li><li>Use results from test method(s) in calculations to further characterize the data (i.e. Calculated Cetane Index, Viscosity Index, etc.).</li><li>Prepare and/or aliquot samples as part of a sample preparation step for all required tests. When applicable load samples on automated instrumentation that has been validated following method quality requirements.</li><li>Perform routine daily and/or weekly verification(s) and/or calibration(s) on equipment and instrumentation following method quality requirements. Some methods will require a minimum Level 3 or 4 based on complexity and quality risk level.</li><li>Perform analysis on samples through direct testing (i.e. wet chemistry). The minimum level required to perform some methods will vary depending on complexity of the method, safety risk level, and quality risk level.</li><li>Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and/or instrumentation as required by the method. The minimum level required to perform preventative maintenance on some equipment and/or instrumentation will vary depending on the complexity of the task, safety risk level and quality risk level.</li><li>Perform calculations as required when conducting analytical preparations.</li><li>Perform sample preparation for multiple testing requirements.</li><li>Perform housekeeping duties as required. This includes assisting with storage and disposal of client samples.</li><li>Monitor inventory levels for supplies and reagents required for test methods.</li><li>Prepare and maintain standards and reagents.
