Postdoctoral Researcher  in human translation control

<p><strong>The main activity of the Institute of Biotechnology of the CAS is basic molecular biological research with an emphasis on processes that have an impact on the health of the population. The research and service groups of the Institute are involved in pan-European research infrastructures, which not only increases the level of expertise and efficiency, but also strengthens their importance and relevance within the European Research Area. These include in particular CIISB (Czech Infrastructure for Integrative Structural Biology) and ELIXIR-CZ (Czech National Infrastructure for Biological Data).</strong></p><p>The Institute of Biotechnology is also one of the partners involved in the BIOCEV Centre project, which is a cutting-edge comprehensive platform for the development of modern biotechnology and biomedicine. Using mouse models, we aim to investigate how elimination and miss-expression of selected transcription factors affect epigenetic landscapes and downstream targets during embryonic development, particularly pancreatic development. Field Service Engineer – Electron Microscopy

Among the main priorities of CEITEC are the promotion of a motivating and dynamic international scientific environment, the provision of state-of-the-art research infrastructure, and the policy of open communication and equal opportunities.&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong>We're excited to announce an open PhD student position in Gabriel Demo's Research Group!</strong></p><p>Understanding the intricate mechanisms regulating ribosome maturation and translation under extreme or stress-induced conditions is vital for uncovering how cells adapt to challenging environments. This project will focus on investigating the molecular mechanisms behind ribosome maturation in bacteria and translation regulation in archaea under such conditions. The ultimate goal is to reveal the adaptation strategies that enable cell survival.</p><p>By employing <strong>state-of-the-art single-particle cryo-electron microscopy</strong> (cryo-EM), the project will provide high-resolution structural insights into ribosomal assembly intermediates, stress-induced translation factors, and archaeal translation machinery under extreme conditions. This research is anticipated to significantly advance our understanding of cellular translation regulation and its role in stress and survival mechanisms.</p><p>The research will involve close collaboration with leading experimental teams and will be tailored to the interests and strengths of the candidate.
