<p> <strong>The 18th Czech-Slovak Spectroscopic Conference (18th CSSC)</strong> is the scientific meeting with international participation to share recent developments, exchange ideas, explore new directions and initiate a possible collaboration in the <strong>analytical spectrometry</strong> area. Leading scientists and researchers will be invited to present their most up-to-date results at this conference, to exchange exciting ideas and experiences as well as look into future development. The aim of this scientific event is to <strong>bring together experts</strong> from universities, academia, official centers, various laboratories, and industry, to summarize the current progress in various areas of spectroscopy/spectrometry and the trends in the applications such as chemical, environmental, geological, biological, food, pharmaceutical and industrial materials and to stimulate contacts and mutual exchange of experiences and ideas.</p>
<p>The upcoming year of this conference with a long tradition differs from the previous ones by a greater emphasis on analytical spectrometry applied in the <strong>geological sciences</strong>. Many scientists with a geological background are engaged in laboratory analysis and research of geological materials. These geologists are experts not only in their parent field, but also bring new knowledge in the methodology of analytical chemistry, namely spectrometry. Contributions to the conference program in the field of analysis of geological materials are therefore very much in demand, as well as participants - geologists, who are warmly welcome to this conference.</p>
<p> The microsymposium entitled <strong>&quot;Recent progress in vibrational spectroscopy - Celebrating 50 years of SERS and the 65th anniversary of A. Smekal death&quot;</strong> is the inherent part of the <strong>Conference programme</strong> as a parallel session. Invited as well as short lectures in the Microsymposium will cover a wide range of topics targeted on recent progress in Raman and infrared spectroscopy and their applications. A particular attention will be given to special methods of Raman spectroscopy, namely resonance Raman scattering (RRS) and surface-enhanced/resonance/Raman scattering (SERS and SERRS) as well as to time-resolved IR and Raman spectroscopy. Moreover, the development and application of advanced techniques of vibrational spectroscopis imaging/mapping both in micro- and nanoscale will be covered. Furthermore, application of IR and Raman spectroscopy in various branches of chemistry, material science, geology, gemmology, art conservation, environmental science, food processing, biology and medicine will be an inherent part of the Microsymposium scope.</p>
<p>A series of specialized colloquia entitled <strong>“Mössbauer Spectroscopy in Materials Science (MSMS)”</strong> was initiated in the Central Europe. They have been almost regularly organized since 1994 alternatively in Slovakia and Czech Republic with a two-year periodicity. Firstly, MSMS colloquium represents an important forum for researchers in materials science who share their results on understanding the solid-state matter employing Mössbauer spectroscopy. Secondly, the conference organizers invite several scientists well distinguished in Mössbauer spectroscopy worldwide to give both tutorial lectures and lectures of broad perspective to convey the knowledge to young generation (researcher beginners, PhD students, etc.). Thirdly, cutting-edge works are presented stimulating future studies and research orientation in the field of Mössbauer spectroscopy.</p>

<h3><strong>HISTORY AND TRADITION</strong></h3>
<p>The 18th Czech-Slovak Spectroscopic Conference (18th CSSC) is a proceeding based on a long-term scientific cooperation between Ioannes Marcus Marci Spectroscopic Society and The Slovak Spectroscopic Society. The meetings organized by the former Czechoslovak spectroscopic society (1949 – 1993) in the past and the continuation in the tradition of the national Slovak and Czech spectroscopic conferences now, since 2008, exist as a joint event. </p>
<p>The Czech spectroscopic conference was repeated every four years, while the Slovak spectroscopic conference took place as a biennial. Joint scientific meetings are now held every two years alternately in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The order may change if this conference is combined with the European Symposium on Analytical Spectrometry (ESAS). To make the tradition of the original separate national conferences clear, the conferences held in the Czech Republic retain their original serial numbering, and the same is true of the conferences held in Slovakia. To recall history, it is possible to take a look at some of the conferences of the past twenty years. </p>

18th Czech - Slovak Spectroscopic Conference (CSSC) & Mössbauer Spectroscopy in Materials Science (MSMS) - Registration

<p><strong>The biennial conference is organized by Department of Analytical Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Palacky University in cooperation with Czech Chemical Society and Czech Society for Mass Spectrometry. It is organized as a meeting of the scientists from the universities, academic institutes and experts from the routine analytical laboratories.</strong></p>
<p>The scientific program will deal with all areas of separation science from fundamental to applied reseach in chemistry, physics, biology, medicine, forensic science and related disciplines. Official languages of the conference are English, Czech and Slovak.</p>

<p><strong>We are pleased to announce that a maintenance release is now available for KnowItAll 2025.</strong></p><p>Maintenance releases are an important way to introduce improvements and bug fixes between major releases to make sure users get the most out of KnowItAll solutions.</p><p>Late 2024, we announced the KnowItAll 2025 major release featuring the <strong>new LC Expert tool</strong>, <strong>KnowItAll Data Control</strong>, <strong>KnowItAll Drug Classification Models</strong>, and various advances for spectral analysis workflows. KnowItAll 2025 Maintenance Release 2025.1 Available

<p><strong>Wiley, one of the world's largest publishers and a global leader in research and learning, today announced the 2025 release of its </strong><i><strong>Wiley Identifier of Natural Products</strong></i><strong> (AntiBase Library + ChemWindow).</strong></p><p>With the <strong>addition of 9,500 compounds</strong>, the latest release of the renowned <i><strong>AntiBase library</strong></i> provides access to more than <strong>105,000 compounds</strong>. This growing natural products database is a powerful screening tool to aid in the discovery of novel compounds having antimicrobial, antitumor, or other desired effects. Additional <strong>applications</strong> include <strong>food, cosmetics, agriculture, pesticides,</strong> and other sectors where natural products are prevalent.</p><p>Graeme Whitley, director of data science solutions at Wiley, commented, “<i>The addition of further compounds, structures, and spectra to this resource continues to aid in the discovery of compounds with significant therapeutic potential</i>.”</p><p><strong>AntiBase</strong> includes compounds from multiple biological sources including <strong>algae, animals, bacteria, dinoflagellate, fungi, lichens, plants</strong>, and others. It also includes valuable metadata such as chemical properties, biological activity data, and links to related references such as literature DOIs, Human Metabolome Database (HMDB), ZINC, KEGG, ChEMBL.
