LECO: Characterization of Graphite and Black Mass Recycled Battery Materials

As the demand for sustainable energy storage solutions continues to grow, analysis of battery materials has become a critical aspect of the energy industry. Graphite, a key component in lithium-ion batteries, is crucial to the performance and lifecycle of these batteries. Accurate characterization of these materials, including moisture, ash, carbon, and sulfur content, is essential for ensuring the quality and performance efficiency.

Additionally, recycled battery materials are becoming increasingly important to meet supply needs of the rare components required for battery production. Recycled battery material, known as black mass, can have a high level of carbon due to graphite being a major component in most batteries. Similar analysis techniques to graphite can be employed for characterization of black mass.

In this webinar, we will explore the methods for determining the moisture, ash, carbon, and sulfur content in graphite and black mass recycled battery materials. Join us for a 30-minute session where LECO Analytical Chemist, Lauren Heirty, will demonstrate how LECO’s advanced analyzers can support your battery recycling process by providing fast, reliable, and precise material characterization.
