Observation is fundamental to not only understanding the world around us, but also to engineering a brighter future. For centuries, optical methods enhanced our vision, giving birth to countless discoveries in both biological and material science. These advancements enabled an exponential evolution in technology. As the length scale of science reduced and the need for quantitative precision increased, new technologies were developed to further enhance our vision. But even today, these classic techniques suffer from a fundamental limitation, bound to the surface, lacking the ability to see what lies beneath.

Over the last decades a quiet revolution has been building. X-rays, a form of high energy light, have a special relationship with matter. With ideal wavelength they can both penetrate and be harmlessly absorbed and scattered, leading to ideal contrast. Advances in sources, motion control, detection and computing power have resulted in a new class of microscopes capable of non-destructive volumetric imaging with exceptional field-of-view, resolution and speed, all in a form factor to fit any lab.
