Separation Science: Improving Efficiency in the Lab with ICP-OES and ICP-MS Analyses

Maximizing efficiency in routine analyses is crucial and should be a priority for any lab. Maintaining an efficient lab workplace means you can generate accurate and timely results with high throughput, saving time, energy, and money without sacrificing the quality of your results. Achieving and maintaining that efficiency and doing more with less can help you optimize your workflow and ensure you maintain your reliability, safety, and compliance goals.

In this webinar, we'll provide some vital tips that can help you improve efficiency in your lab for your ICP-OES and ICP-MS analyses without shortcuts that may otherwise sacrifice quality. We’ll highlight some AI-based software tools that can simplify method development and reduce errors during analysis by avoiding reporting results that have been affected by an interference. These tools can also provide real-time warning of unpredictable events such as nebulizer leaks and blockages, which can help the analyst avoid collecting potentially erroneous data. We’ll also provide some essential maintenance tips and guidelines to help ICP-OES and ICP-MS users identify and overcome the most common causes of unplanned downtime and inconsistent results.

By attending this presentation, you will learn about:

  • New software tools that can help you simplify method development and reduce errors during analysis

  • AI-based software tools that provide real-time warning of unpredictable events such as nebulizer leaks and blockage so you can avoid problems before they occur

  • Essential maintenance tips and routines that can help you overcome the most common causes of unplanned downtime and inconsistent results.

Who Should Attend:

This webinar is recommended for any analyst or lab manager looking to improve efficiency and reduce errors in their routine analysis workflows with their ICP-OES and ICP-MS analyses.

Presenter: Eric Vanclay (Spectroscopy Supplies Marketing Manager, Agilent, Melbourne, Australia)

Eric Vanclay graduated from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Chemistry in 1985. He has since completed further postgraduate studies in Marketing. He joined Varian in 1988 and has worked in a number of roles, including Atomic Absorption Product Specialist, Atomic Absorption Product Manager, Export Marketing Manager, European Field Sales/Applications Specialist (atomic spectroscopy), ICP-OES Product Manager, and MP-AES Product Manager. After the acquisition of Varian by Agilent, Eric took on the role of Spectroscopy Supplies Marketing Manager, with responsibility for field sales support, customer support, product development, and marketing of the spectroscopy supplies. He has over 30 years of experience with all of the atomic spectroscopy techniques. He is based at Agilent’s Spectroscopy Technology Innovation Centre in Melbourne, Australia.

Presenter: Alain Desprez (ICP-MS Supplies Product Manager, Agilent, Les Ulis, France)

Alain Desprez completed his PhD, which focused on “The characterization of petroleum product using ICP-MS and High-Resolution Mass Spectrometry” at the University of Pau in 2014. The same year, he joined Agilent as an ICP-MS Application Engineer in France. In this role, he has been able to develop his applications knowledge and skills related to atomic spectroscopy by supporting Agilent’s ICP-MS, ICP-OES, MP-AES, and AAS instrumentation in the France Demo Centre. After nine years as an Application Engineer, Alain took on the role of Global ICP-MS Supplies Product Manager and still works from the France Demo Centre in Les Ulis.
