LABORATORY ASSISTANT
Use your chemical knowledge in the operation of analytical instructions, analysis and trouble shooting.
About the role
The day to day
ALS Geochemistry requires a Laboratory Assistant to join our team in Kalgoorlie.
This is a Full-Time role with full training provided.
With projected growth within the laboratory, the complexity of the position will increase with time.
The role will be day shift while training takes place, but the successful candidate is expected to be available for a 3 days, 3 afternoons and 3 off roster (10 hours shift).
Responsibilities include
Undertake Laboratory activities which may include but are not limited to the operation of analytical instruments such as AAS, XRF, ICPAES, ICPMS or other as applicable
Follow applicable analytical methods and published procedures without unapproved deviation, error, or supervision
Conduct activities to relevant quality standards while throughput targets are met
Troubleshoot to identify analytical test result anomalies for sample type or behaviour
Perform housekeeping duties to applicable standards
Manage consumables so that inventory is not exhausted
Appropriate equipment/instrument maintenance and/or calibration management to ensure such infrastructure remains fit for purpose.
This is a residential role, and you must be residing in or planning to relocate to the Kalgoorlie Boulder Region with current Australian work rights to be considered.
The Essentials´
A tertiary qualification or Diploma in a Chemistry related field is preferred
Appropriate chemical knowledge
Appropriate time management principles
Appropriate mathematical/statistical principles
Appropriate knowledge of customer-focus principles
Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain focus
Previous or similar instrumentation experience is desirable
Be able to work within a team environment
Be able to multi-task and produce accurate results
Be willing to work shift work
