Wet Chemistry Team Lead
About the role
The Team Lead will successfully manage the following:
- Responsible for oversight of the preparation and analysis of environmental samples using prescribed methods and standard operating procedures.
- Responsible for overseeing a group of analysts and their training.
- Maintain accurate knowledge of defined areas; keep abreast of state-of-the-art techniques.
- Participate in SOP development and review.
- Maintain, troubleshoot and repair equipment.
- Able to take ownership for meeting goals and objectives as defined by the Departmental Supervisor.
- Exercise laboratory safety practices.
- Strong commitment to quality and integrity.
- Must actively participate in the laboratory’s Quality System.
- Will report to the Wet Chemistry Department Supervisor.
About you
- Follow appropriate methodologies and SOP’s as required.
- Document activities and report results in a concise and accurate manner.
- Solve analysis problems as needed.
- Interpret samples and data.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Diligent work ethic and the ability to work independently and as a team.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle numerous details.
- High energy level, confidence and ability to thrive in a fast paced environment.
- Dedication to supporting goals, objectives, and philosophies of ALS.
- A commitment to cross training.
- Knowledge of basic lab skills, i.e. use of balances, pipettes, quantitative transfer of samples.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with computer systems; A working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets a plus.
- Ability to work overtime, as required.
- 2 years’ experience in a laboratory environment required.
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific field or equivalent preferred.
- Familiarity with Wet Chemistry technology required.
Physical Demands
- The ability to stand for intervals of up to 8 hours while working.
- Dexterity in hands and fingers to operate equipment and handle glassware.
- Able to speak and hear clearly while communicating with co-workers and managers.
- Dexterity in hands and fingers to operate equipment and handle glassware.
- Must have average vision and able to see to read reports and operate equipment.
- Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
