TECHNICAL SERVICES LABORATORY METALLOGRAPHER
Job Description
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for the hands-on use of LECO’s metallographic equipment.
This includes preparing samples and maintaining the equipment.
This position reports to the TSL Corporate Metallurgist.This position offers a signing bonus.
Schedule:
- Full Time: 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday
Position Responsibilities:
Hands-on sample preparation utilizing LECO Metallographic equipment; including sectioning, mounting, manual and auto grinding/polishing, etching, imaging, analysis, and issue metallographic methods for customer reports
Work closely with Corporate Metallurgist toward application development and report generation
Assist in performing demonstrations of all metallographic equipment and systems
- Demonstrations will consist of both in-person interactions and remote video demonstrations
Teach and assist hands-on portion of Metallographic training and classes held at LECO
Provide support to Research and Development for the testing and evaluation of new Metallographic products
Provide Metallographic product line support to foreign and domestic LECO customers and LECO sales and service personnel including recommend application procedures and consumables
Work with Metallographic Product manager, providing support for LECO’s Metallographic product offerings
Develop innovative techniques to optimize the functionality of LECO’s metallographic equipment and consumables
Order and maintain Metallographic Lab consumables as needed
Clean and maintain lab and equipment to meticulous standards
Safely handle chemicals used for metallographic sample preparation and etching
Position Requirements:
Computer literate (Email, Microsoft Word, Excel) with ability to learn metallography related software
Strong problem-solving skills with task completion focus
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with others
Work autonomously and as a productive member of a team
Complete work on several projects simultaneously, and prioritize various work responsibilities
Familiarity with LECO’s Metallographic product line a plus
Detail oriented and precise recordkeeping, and commitment to LECO’s corporate philosophy of “Empowering Results”
Education/Certifications:
Metallographic preparation experience preferred, or 3-5 years of practical lab experience
2-year degree in science related field also preferred
