OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN I - ANALYTICAL REFERENCE MATERIAL

Restek is currently seeking to fill Operations Technician I positions in the Analytical Reference Material (ARM) department on both second and third shift. The ARM department manufactures reference standards that are used in all major analytical markets. The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Weighing, mixing, ampulating and packaging product

  • Handle a variety of chemicals including regulated materials and carcinogens

  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail and basic computer skills, with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software knowledge preferred. A respirator fit test is required and the the successful candidate will be enrolled in an annual medical surveillance program. Also the successful candidate will be required to complete DEA and ATF clearances in order to handle regulated material. The second shift schedule is Monday through Friday 2:00 pm - 10:30pm. The third shift schedule is Sunday though Friday 10:00 pm - 6:30 am.

Job Duties:

  1. Process and manufacture products in assigned area to maintain appropriate inventory levels and service back orders in a timely manner as determined by operation requirements. May provide technical training and “hands on” support to others in assigned area when a sufficient level of expertise is attained.

  2. Track and maintain raw materials as necessary to facilitate their respective process.

  3. Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) within their assigned area.

  4. Maintain records and databases as required in their respective process, including Statistical Product Control (SPC) or other quality records. Has a basic understanding of the data in order to recognize problems.

  5. Maintain equipment within assigned area, including making basic repairs or performing equipment installation as directed.

  6. Review product requirements and determine basic performance to quality standards.

  7. Understand and follow safe handling procedures for all chemicals and equipment and consult the safety officer, reference books, or MSDS when safety is in question. Adhere to Restek’s safety codes and regulations.

  8. Attend and participate in departmental /team meetings.

  9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical requirements:

Standing 8-10 hrs. per shift schedule with occasional breaks, reaching, pulling, fingering, pinching, grasping, typing, repetitive motion, perceiving by touching temperature, shape or size, occasionally exerting up to 20 lbs. of pressure/frequently up to 10 lbs. Will be exposed to fumes, odors, dust or gases.

Qualifications

Education&Skills:
  • Minimum of high school diploma/GED

  • Prefer 2 years specialized training in a science-related technology or relevant experience

  • Ability to perform basic level job responsibilities, including problem solving using basic math and scientific rules

Knowledge, Skills,Abilities
  • Exhibits a friendly and helpful manner and is able to work well with others in a team environment.

  • Good attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Good problem solving skills.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and basic ERP system.

  • Ability to understand basic business concepts and technical details.

  • Knowledge of all EHS requirements for products housed in area.

  • Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.

  • Ability to communicate both oral and written instruction to other functions in the manufacturing area.

  • Ability to provide basic system and process training.
