Electronic Records Management and Security Workshop

An optional workshop will be held on Friday August 8 between 8:00am and 12:00pm to focus on the importance of data classification and security in laboratory environments. It covers best practices for ensuring data integrity, traceability, and defensibility, emphasizing the need to classify various types of laboratory data, including client, employee, business, quality, and laboratory records. The presentation also addresses common issues related to data storage, backup, and security, highlighting the risks associated with cyber threats and the importance of implementing robust security measures. By understanding and mitigating these risks, laboratories can protect their data, maintain credibility, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards

Description

The Workshop is comprehensive with a focus on the following subjects:

  • Classifying records
  • Developing roles for accessing data by function
  • Review of laboratory records and data integrity/traceability
  • Record Issues
  • Data Back-up and Restore
  • Control of Data
  • Technology – Storage and LIMS
  • Vendor Management
  • Data Security and Risk - Risk Assessment
  • Assessments
  • Cybersecurity Insurance
  • Cost of Security

This workshop includes hands-on group participation with focused exercises on key content in the presentation.
